The 2015 South Indian floods have resulted from heavy rainfall during the annual northeast monsoon in November–December 2015. They affected the Coromandel Coast region of the South Indian states of Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh, and the union territory of Puducherry, with Tamil Nadu and the city of Chennai particularly hard-hit. More than 300 people have died and over 35 lac (3.5 million) people have been displaced as a result, with damages and losses estimated to be more than ₹20000 crore (US$3 billion)
